What is youCharades?
Charades is a popular guessing game in which one player acts out the words from the name of a movie, book, song or any such thing and the other players have to try and guess the words. The actor is not allowed to speak and can suggest words only through actions, signs and expressions. youCharades is a online rendition of the game.
Sounds like fun? Well yes, it really is!

How do I play this game?
Just watch the video, guess what the actor is acting out and enter your answer in the field below. If you can’t answer correctly, click on the button that says ‘Give Up’ and move on to the next one. You get 10 points for each correct answer. Besides this, you can make things more fun by challenging your friends or uploading your own charades.

What are the universal symbols in the game?
If you’re wondering what those signs and actions used frequently on youCharades mean, here’s some help.


Forming the T sign with your hands, like you see here, indicates that the word is ‘The’.


Using fingers to symbolize something small is a hint for commonly used small words like - and, if, of, on, but, for, etc.


Hand placed on the chest showing a name tag suggests that the word is the name of a person.

Now that you know better, just go on and play. Also feel free to use these actions when you make your charade. It just makes things easier.

How many points do I score with a right answer?
Every right answer gets you 10 fabulous points!

How do I see how much I have scored?
So you want to know how well you’re doing? Just log in and check out the points table, it’s on the right hand side of the videos. It shows you the Total Points you’ve scored, your best streak and how many challenges you’ve taken.

What is a Streak?
This is for you go-getters out there. Streak is the number of charades you’ve answered correctly in a row. So if you’ve answered 10 Charades without getting any wrong, your Streak is 10. Also, Current Streak indicates the number of Charades you’ve answered right consecutively from the last time you logged-in and All-Time Streak (as the name suggests) indicates your personal All-time best.

How do I tell my friends to play youCharades?
Fun always doubles up when you let your pals in on some of it. Get your friends to join in on the action by clicking on the ‘Share’ link below each charade. Then simply type out their email addresses. Let the party begin! You can also share the charade as on other sites you may be a member of such as facebook, myspace, digg etc.

What is a Challenge?
A Challenge is a set of charades you can play at a go. The charades in a challenge may or may not have a similar theme e.g. Oscar Winners, Chick Flicks, Jack’s Favorites, etc. Each challenge has a certain number of points to be scored. You can attempt a challenge and then send it to your friends to see who scores better.

How do I create my own Challenges?
Once you have completed a charade, they appear on the right hand side along with a checkbox. To make your own cool Challenge all you need to do is select the Charades you want & click on ‘Challenge Friends’. Then all you need to do is give your Challenge a cool Title, enter the email addresses of the friends that you want to send it to & *POOF* instant magic!

How do I add my own Charade?
There are two ways in which you can add your own Charade. One, if you already have a video stored on your computer click on the Create tab, and then on ‘Upload your video’. You just have to fill in the Name, Hint and Genre for the Charade, then Click on ‘Submit’ and you’re ready to go. The second is if you want to record your own Charade using your Webcam. Just Click on the ‘Create’ Tab, then choose ‘Webcam Capture’. After this start acting out your charade (keep it clean ) Hit the Stop button to stop recording and fill in the Name, Hint and Genre for your Charade and your Charade’s ready.

How do I upload my own Charade?

It’s simple. You can ‘Upload’ your own pre-recorded charades through the ‘Create’ section of the site. Just enter the name of the movie/book/song, add a hint & upload your video.

How do I record my own Charade?
It’s simple. Just click on the ‘Create’ tab and choose your ‘Webcam Capture’. Then, click on the Record button and start acting out your charade. Hit the stop button to stop recording and fill in the Name, Hint and Genre for your Charade and your Charade’s ready.
